Who I Was Yesterday - Is Not Who I Am Today

Now, this is quite funny because I never share my emotions or thoughts out loud.

Over the past several months, I've felt very depressed. My husband fell on his back outside on the ice and it was really bad - he couldn't walk till he went in for his surgery. Obviously because he fell on our landlords property, we decided to bring a law suite against him. We got a settlement that I wasn't planned for.

So I've been trying to figure out what to do with this very little settlement. At first, I was running with the idea of getting a travel trailer, parking it somewhere which led to having to park it at some sort of park. Then all we would have to pay is their lease agreement. Then we could do whatever we wanted to. After talking to my husband, I decided that it wasn't a good idea because of our 5 little fur babies. It would have been bad enough for us living in such a small space.

Yesterday I came up with a totally different plan which I talked to my husband about. We would just stay here where we've lived for the past 12 years with an understanding from our landlord. The windows are very old and need to be replaced, the bathroom needs a huge makeover and the floors are those white 12 x 12" tiles and needs a new floor. Despite getting older, I know that I can rework the bathroom and lay in the new floor. We just need to know what our landlord is planning to do with this property.

Coming up with this plan has brought me so much relief.

This has not stopped me from thrifting. This is my job, so I need to keep going. Another issue - I've tried the few top platform for my business. So incredibly frustrated, I decided to keep this platform with Strikingly.

Unique Glassware & Vessels

Glassware is about more than just utility; it’s about how it plays with light in a room. When I’m scouring the shelves, I’m looking for "soul"—depression glass with its soft colors, heavy cut-crystal that catches the sun, or even simple stoneware crocks. These are the workhorses of vintage decor.

What to look for: Texture, interesting etchings, and unexpected colors like amber or smoke gray.
TLV Tip: Don't worry about finding a matching set! A "mismatched" collection of clear glass vases in different heights looks intentional and high-end.

Frameable "Found" Art

Custom art is expensive, but thrifted art is a treasure trove of character. Often, I’m not even looking at the art itself—I’m looking at the frame. A high-quality wood or ornate gold frame is worth its weight in gold.

The Secret: Look for old wood frames, botanical sketches in books that can be framed to create a one-of-a-kind gallery wall.

Before looking for any type of artwork, pay attention to all the frames they may have out. Look for solid wood frames that may or may not have artwork in them. Creating artwork isn't as difficult as you may think it is.

FLOWERS ARE EVERYWHERE WHEN THRIFTING

Flowers are everywhere when thrifting. When thrifting things like any container, you can make even more beautiful with some flowers - they don't even need to cooridinate like I do.

Here is one piece I've done and before adding flowers, it was just a paint wicker bottle.

Envision this with no flowers. Just a plain distressed finish on this wood box.

This is one of my best features. A small tin container with moulds around the outside. Do the roses make it, or not?

I'm convinced that flowers can make everything better.
