We’ve all been there: standing in the middle of a crowded thrift store, surrounded by mismatched plates, outdated tech, and a sea of "stuff," wondering if there’s actually anything worth taking home. It can feel like looking for a needle in a haystack! But over the years at Taina Lee Vintage, I’ve learned that the secret to a high-end home isn't a massive budget—it’s a trained eye.

Unique Glassware & Vessels
Glassware is about more than just utility; it’s about how it plays with light in a room. When I’m scouring the shelves, I’m looking for "soul"—depression glass with its soft colors, heavy cut-crystal that catches the sun, or even simple stoneware crocks. These are the workhorses of vintage decor.
- What to look for: Texture, interesting etchings, and unexpected colors like amber or smoke gray.
- TLV Tip: Don't worry about finding a matching set! A "mismatched" collection of clear glass vases in different heights looks intentional and high-end.
Frameable "Found" Art
Custom art is expensive, but thrifted art is a treasure trove of character. Often, I’m not even looking at the art itself—I’m looking at the frame. A high-quality wood or ornate gold frame is worth its weight in gold.
- The Secret: Look for old wood frames, botanical sketches in books that can be framed to create a one-of-a-kind gallery wall.

Before looking for any type of artwork, pay attention to all the frames they may have out. Look for solid wood frames that may or may not have artwork in them. Creating artwork isn't as difficult as you may think it is.
